26.7.7 Dip replenishment - the head count system Occasionally it is necessary to partially replenish the dip tank due to water loss from use and evaporation. How does one calculate how much water and how much dip concentrate to add for replenishment? One method is called the “head count method” and is based on 2.83 liters of water removed per head of cattle dipped. It is necessary to have the following information for this calculation:

 The number of cattle treated since the last replenishment or complete refill of the tank.

 The “replenishment rate” listed on the label of the dip concentrate.
